4.22.12 - Sal's Hollow
Beautiful seclusion and silence interrupted by a small natural waterfall deep back Sal's Hollow trail in Mammoth Cave National Park. This trail is family friendly, but has mud in some areas due to horse traffic. My family (3yrs-27yrs) traversed this trail with very little difficulty. It was not overgrown and was peaceful. Upon arrival I was blessed with the sun in the perfect location to capture a sun-flare above the tiny waterfall. Cool, clear water traveled down across moist green moss and into the small stream below. A great place for a rest and picnic after our long hike. You also never know what wildlife can be seen at MCNP. Young deer and even turkey are also common along the highways. Most features are best seen in spring.
