Winter 2013
Kingrey Road is located in southeastern Barren County, Kentucky. A section of a creek called 'Bailey's Branch' runs under a bridge here. Often, heavy rain results in this creek flowing with abandon. It's managed to cover the road at times, but this was the first time I'd ever seen it frozen nearly solid. There was a small stream gushing in the center, but the rest of the creek was frozen so intensely that no matter how hard I threw stones, I could only hear the thud of failure as the surface resisted the assault. Amazing the power of nature to freeze even the fastest flowing sources of water.
