One of my feline companions ended the life of a mouse. It was pregnant and among the destruction remained these delicate mouse fetuses. The baby mice were still perfectly encased inside what visibly looked like pearls. When I first saw them, they were not transparent. I lay them on plastic wrap on my counter and added water to rehydrate. Suddenly, you could see clearly through the exterior. So, despite the morbidity, I photographed them knowing that my photo would be the only way they would survive...
